Martin Scorsese has given effusive praise for his frequent collaborator Leonardo DiCaprio's upcoming film One Battle After Another, directed by Paul Thomas Anderson. In a conversation with director Anderson at the Directors Guild of America (DGA), Scorsese said that the film is "fascinating and extraordinarily made" and boasts "extraordinary performances everywhere." The director, who is set to collaborate with DiCaprio on yet another film in the future, commended the themes of the film, terming these "on spot right now" and underscoring the urgency with which it tackles ideological and political divide.
One Battle After Another stars DiCaprio as a character trying to rescue his daughter while dealing with an enemy from the past. The cast also includes Sean Penn, Regina Hall, Benicio del Toro, Chase Infiniti, and Teyana Taylor. The film marks the first collaboration between DiCaprio and Anderson as well as Infiniti's debut as an actor in a feature film.
There is some discourse around the financial prospects of the film, even as a section of the film industry underscores the sheer pointlessness of such a debate. The film is made on a reported budget of $150 million, but the film is projected by industry insiders to earn only a small portion of it in its opening week. One Battle After Another is slated for a September 26 release in theatres in India.
