Netflix has released the trailer for the upcoming third season of The Diplomat. Bradley Whitford joins the third season, making The Diplomat his second political drama after The West Wing.

The political drama is created by Debora Cahn who has previously served as a writer on political dramas like Homeland and The West Wing. Cahn serves as an executive producer alongside Keri Russell, Janice Williams, Simon Cellan Jones, Peter Noah, Eli Attie, and Alex Graves.

The cast for The Diplomat includes Keri Russell, Rufus Sewell, David Gyasi, Ali Ahn, Ato Essandoh, Allison Janney, and Rory Kinnear.

The story of the upcoming season is as follows Grace Penn's (Allison Janney) ascension from Vice President might have been caused by Kate Wyler's (Keri Russell) husband, Hal (Rufus Sewell), who inadvertently killed the previous president. Yet, Hal is not slowing down in his campaign to make Kate the vice president. The series was renewed for a fourth season.
