Dougray Scott will step into the shoes of fairytale writer Hans Christian Andersen, for the upcoming crime drama, Fairytale Detective. The series is developed by Brendan Foley, whose recent work was CW's Sherlock and Daughter.
Fairytale Detective will be the second time that Scott and Foley are collaborating. Scott played Professor Moriarty in Sherlock and Daughter. Both Scott and Foley are serving as executive producers on the series. Omega Global Media is the banner backing the film.
According to Variety, the plot for the series will follow Hans Christian Andersen solving crimes in Copenhagen, Denmark, in the 1850s. Andersen's characters will be portrayed as supporting him, as he solves those crimes. While being a detective, Andersen also has to convince the love of his life, Jenny Lind, to marry him.
Scott portrayed Sean Ambrose, the antagonist, in Mission: Impossible 2. The film which saw Tom Cruise return as Ethan Hunt, also starred Thandiwe Newton, Brendan Gleeson, and Ving Rhames.
