Kit Harington, Keira Knightley, James McAvoy and others to join voice cast of new Harry Potter audio series

The star-studded cast for Audible's seven-part audiobook adaptation of JK Rowling's much-acclaimed Harry Potter books has gotten bigger with the inclusion of noted actors like Kit Harington, Keira Knightley and James McAvoy.

The cast details, announced by the Audible and Rowling’s Pottermore Publishing, will see Kit Harington as Professor Lockhart; Keira Knightley as Professor Umbridge; Iwan Rheon as Professor Lupin; Ruth Wilson as Bellatrix Lestrange; Ambika Mod as Nymphadora Tonks; Leo Woodall as Bill Weasley; Simon Pegg as Arthur Weasley; James McAvoy as Mad-Eye Moody; Gemma Whelan as Professor Sprout; and Matt Berry as Sir Cadogan.

Earlier announced names include Cush Jumbo as the narrator, Hugh Laurie as Albus Dumbledore, Matthew Macfadyen as Lord Voldemort, Riz Ahmed as Professor Snape, Michelle Gomez as Professor McGonagall, Mark Addy as Hagrid, Alex Hassell as Lucius Malfoy, Daniel Mays as Dobby, and Sara and Avni Deshmukh as The Patil Twins.

The lead cast Harry Potter, Ronald Weasley and Hermione Granger will be voiced by rising stars Frankie Treadaway, Max Lester, and Arabella Stanton. After the first three audio books, Jaxon Knopf, Rhys Mulligan and Nina Barker-Francis are taking over their roles from the fourth installment to the last seventh part.

The new audio adaptations will launch with Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone on November 4, 2025, followed by monthly releases until Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows on May 12, 2026.

Produced in Dolby Atmos with original music, sound design and performances from A-list talent, the full-cast editions are described as offering “listening experiences as never heard before."

Meanwhile, the Harry Potter reboot series is currently in production from HBO. Touted as a faithful adaptation of the books, the series will star Dominic McLaughlin as Harry Potter, Arabella Stanton as Hermione Granger, and Alastair Stout as Ron Weasley. The rest of the cast includes John Lithgow, Janet McTeer, Nick Frost, Paapa Essiedu, Bertie Carvel, Anton Lesser, Paul Whitehouse, Johnny Flynn, and Bel Powley, amongst others.
