
Harry Potter star Tom Felton aka Draco Malfoy is officially on board Hansal Mehta's Gandhi, confirmed emminent music composer AR Rahman. Sharing a selfie with the actor, he said Felton is a major part of the Gandhi series that he scored music for. The much-anticipated series had its world premiere at the prestigious Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) 2025.
Gandhi, which has already scripted history as the first Indian series to premiere at TIFF, stars Pratik Gandhi in the titular role and reunites the actor with Hansal after their hit series Scam 1992: The Harshad Mehta Story (2020). It will also feature Pratik’s wife Bhamini Oza in the role of Kasturba Gandhi. The first two episodes were screened at TIFF recently.
Felton plays Josiah Oldfield in the series which is an adaptation of the books Gandhi: The Years That Changed the World, 1914-1948 and Gandhi Before India written by historian Ramachandra Guha. The series is backed by Applause Entertainment.
Earlier Hansal had told Variety that, with Gandhi, the attempt is not to portray him as a God-like figure but rather to humanise him. There have been multiple other films based on the Father of the Nation, most notably Shyam Benegal's 1996 film The Making of the Mahatma as well as Kamal Haasan and Shah Rukh Khan's 2000 film Hey Ram.
Apart from Gandhi, Felton is set to wear the Slytherin coat once again as Draco Malfoy in Harry Potter and the Cursed Child broadway stage show. Felton, who rose to fame with the character that he played from 2001 to 2011, will be making his broadway debut through the show. The show is set 19 years after the events of the last book in JK Rowling's novel series which revolves around the lives of Draco, Harry, Ron and Hermione's children attending Hogwarts school.
