Writer Austine Kolodney, who penned Gus Van Sant's Dead Man's Wire, is set to make his directorial debut with Josephine The Blanket.

The Canadian production banner Sauce Studios announced that it took the project to buyers at the TIFF market.

Also penning the project, Koloney's film is described as a "genre-bending fantastical odyssey". Josephine The Blanket follows a brilliant, yet depressed scientist who accomplishes her long-nursed dream of transferring her consciousness to her beloved childhood blanket. With her newfound powers and her physical body in a coma, she wants to sort out the damaged dynamics of her divorced parents and also attempts to outwit a sneaky government agency that is out to misuse her technology.

Inspired by the 1977 Tony Kiritsis hostage crisis, Dead Man's Wire was launched at the Venice and Toronto Film Festivals. The film stars Bill Skarsgård, Dacre Montgomery, and Colman Domingo.

Kolodney has worked on digital projects for Funny or Die, Syfy, Universal Music Group, and Comedy Central.
