Oscar nominee Glenn Close will join the cast of The Black Ball, reported The Hollywood Reporter. Penelope Cruz is leading the cast of The Black Ball.
Directed by Javier Calvo and Javier Ambrossi, The Black Ball is an adaptation of the unfinished of Spanish poet Federico Garcia Lorca. Director Pedro Almodovar, who collaborates with Cruz frequently, is producing the film along with his brother Agustin Almodovar. El Deseo, Le Pacte, Movistar Plus+, and Suma Content Films are backing the Spanish language film, with Goodfellas distributing internationally.
The cast of the film also includes Miguel Bernardeau, Carlos Gonzales, Lola Duenas and Guitarricadelafuente, with the latter making his feature film debut.
The story of The Black Ball revolves around the lives of three gay men from three different times in history, whose stories are interconnected by pain, desire, inheritance, and sexuality.
Close has received 8 Oscar nominations for her performances, including projects like Fatal Attraction and Dangerous Liasons. Close will next be seen in the upcoming film, The Hunger Games: Sunrise On The Reaping as Drusilla Sickle, a brutal escort for the tributes from District 12.
