After a long wait, an official announcement for the sequel of Red, White & Royal Blue has been officially greenlit by Amazon MGM Studios. Officially titled Red, White & Royal Wedding, the upcoming film will see Nicholas Galitzine and Taylor Zakhar Perez reprising their roles as Prince Henry and Alex Claremont-Diaz.

It will be directed by five-time Emmy-nominated Jamie Babbit from a script by Gemma Burgess, Matthew López, and Red, White & Royal Blue author Casey McQuiston. Plot details have been kept under wraps, but given the title, fans can expect a royal wedding and the events leading up to it.

The 2023 film revolves around Prince Henry, third in line to the British throne, and Alex Claremont-Diaz, the first son of the United States, who fall in love with each other. The film ends with Alex and Henry in a relationship, fighting all the odds that could separate them. Upon release on the streamer, the film was met with positive reviews across the globe.

Julie Rapaport, head of film, production and development at Amazon MGM said in a statement, "After seeing the incredible outpouring of love for ‘Red, White & Royal Blue’ from fans around the world, it’s clear Alex and Henry’s story truly resonated with audiences."

She added, "We couldn’t be more excited to continue that journey with Jamie Babbit at the helm — her sharp comedic sensibility and heartfelt storytelling make her the perfect director to build on the magic of the first film, in which Matthew López beautifully brought to life from Casey McQuiston’s beloved book. We can’t wait to bring fans an unforgettable new chapter in their love story."

Along with the actors, producers Greg Berlanti and Sarah Schechter of Berlanti Schechter Films are returning to back the project, along with Michael McGrath and Matthew López who are also part of the banner.
