According to a press release, more than 25 million people from across the world have watched Prime Video's recent series The Girlfriend, as of this October. As a result, it has become one of the ten most-watched series on Prime Video this year. It also tops the list of the most-viewed new scripted shows in the United Kingdom. Even Taylor Swift is singing the praises of the show. In a recent appearance on The Tonight Show Starring jimmy Fallon, Swift picked it as one of her favourite series at present. "The Girlfriend is a good one," the singing sensation said in response to a question about what she watched last.

The Girlfriend tells the story of a mother (Robin Wright) who believes that her son's (Laurie Davidson) girlfriend (Olivia Cooke) is dating him just to climb up the social ladder. Is the woman's belief true or is it a case of paranoia?

Gabbie Asher and Naomi Sheldon have created the series, also featuring Wright as an executive producer and one of the directors. The series also stars Paddy Considine, Jack Farthing, Emma Laird, and Ruth Bradley. The makers are yet to renew the series, as they originally released it as a limited series.
