Linda Hamilton is greeting her late 60s with the same fearlessness that made her an action legend. As she earns applause for her role in the final season of Stranger Things, the 69-year-old star is making it clear she has no interest in trying to look younger for Hollywood.
In a conversation with AARP’s Movies for Grownups, the actor said she refuses to buy into the industry’s fixation on youth. Calling ageing both “natural” and “meaningful”, Hamilton explained that her appearance reflects the life she has lived. “I do not spend a moment trying to look younger on any level, ever,” she said. “I’ve completely surrendered to the fact that this is the face I’ve earned. And it tells me so much.”
While she insists she isn’t pursuing cosmetic procedures, Hamilton noted that she takes her physical health seriously. During the shooting of Stranger Things, she kept up a steady workout routine. “I used to go to the gym three times a week,” she shared. “It was Pilates, it was yoga, a lot of free weights, machines, cables — everything. I love going in and just asking, ‘What do you need to loosen up and stretch out today?’”
As Linda Hamilton embraces this chapter with refreshing honesty, Stranger Things is closing its own saga. The first four episodes of the final season are already streaming, out of the season's span of eight episodes in total. Episodes 5, 6, and 7, constituting volume 2, will arrive on December 25, and the series finale will drop just before the new year on December 31.
