Ryan Reynolds to remake Thunderbolt and Lightfoot with Amazon MGM

Ryan Reynolds is all set to remake the 1975 film Thunderbolt and Lightfoot along with Amazon MGM. The original film was a crime comedy starring Clint Eastwood and Jeff Bridges.

Editor Shane Reid, who has worked with Reynolds on Deadpool and Wolverine and the documentary John Candy: I Like Me, which was backed by Reynolds. Scott Wilson and Enzo Mileti will be writing the film. Reynolds will produce the project under his Maximum Effort banner.

Thunderbolt and Lightfoot (1975) was the directorial debut of Michael Cimino, who went on to direct the war film, The Deer Hunter. Eastwood starred as Thunderbolt, a preacher (in disguise), who is rescued by a thief, Lightfoot, played by Bridges. Lightfoot soon discovers that Thunderbolt is a robber on the run.

Reynolds recently joined the cast of the Netflix film Eloise. The film is based on the books written by Kay Thompson and illustrated by Hilary Knight. Amy Sherman-Palladino, creator of shows like Gilmore Girls and The Marvelous Ms Maisel, has written and directed Eloise.
