In a very Deadpool-like manner, actor Ryan Reynolds took to Instagram to tease a potential involvement in the upcoming Marvel film Avengers: Doomsday. Reynolds who starred as Deadpool across four films, took to Instagram to share an image of the Avengers logo over which a red 'A' was spray painted. The tease comes as the studio is gaining positive feedback for its recent film, The Fantastic Four: First Steps.
The actor who portrayed the 'merc with a mouth' first in X-Men Origins: Wolverine, went on to star in his own standalone Deadpool (2016), Deadpool 2 (2018), and Deadpool and Wolverine (2024).
If confirmed, Reynolds' addition to the cast of Avengers: Doomsday will also continue the addition of Fox's X-Men series' characters into the film. The film sees the return of Patrick Stewart as Professor X, Ian McKellen as Magneto, Alan Cummings as Nightcrawler, and Rebecca Romijn as Mystique.
The rest of the cast of Avengers: Doomsday includes Chris Hemsworth, Vanessa Kirby, Anthony Mackie, Sebastian Stan, Pedro Pascal, Paul Rudd, Florence Pugh, and Pedro Pascal, with Robert Downey Jr as Dr Doom, among others.
After The Fantastic Four: The First Steps, the next film from Marvel is Spider-Man: Brand New Day, which sees the return of Tom Holland as the friendly neighbourhood superhero. The film is set to release on July 31, 2026.
