The stars of Stranger Things came together for one last celebration as Netflix’s blockbuster series nears its end, and two of its biggest names, Millie Bobby Brown and David Harbour, stole the spotlight on the red carpet.
Putting to rest recent rumours of tension, the on-screen father-daughter duo looked every bit as close as fans remember. At the event held on Thursday at TCL Chinese Theatre, Brown and Harbour shared a warm hug and a laugh while posing for photographers. Netflix even shared a clip of the pair on Instagram, captioning it as “one last Stranger Things premiere”, a nod to the show’s incredible run since its debut in 2016 under the Duffer Brothers’ direction.
For the uninitiated, Brown, 20, who plays Eleven, had recently reportedly filed a formal complaint accusing Harbour, 50, of bullying and harassment before filming for Stranger Things 5 commenced. The allegations reportedly spanned “pages and pages”, and while serious in nature, did not involve sexual misconduct, sources clarified.
Brown, who has portrayed Eleven since the show’s first season, plays the young girl with telekinetic powers who escapes from Hawkins National Laboratory, the same facility where Harbour’s character, police chief Jim Hopper, eventually becomes her guardian.
The fifth and final season picks up in the fall of 1987, following the catastrophic events that tore open rifts across Hawkins. The gang faces their biggest challenge yet: finding and defeating Vecna, who has mysteriously vanished. As the government tightens its grip on the quarantined town and renews its hunt for Eleven, she is once again forced into hiding. Meanwhile, the eerie anniversary of Will Byers’ disappearance looms, hinting at an even darker threat ahead.
Netflix has announced that the farewell season will roll out in three parts: Volume 1on November 26 (four episodes), Volume 2on Christmas Day (three episodes), and The Finaleon New Year’s Eve.
