Better Things creator and star, Pamela Adlon, has been added to the cast of ABC's Shifting Gears in a guest role. She will play the opinionated single mother of Gabriel, played by Seann William Scott, in the episode which is scheduled to premiere on December 10.
The episode, titled 'Nutcracker', has a description that reads, "This holiday season, the Parkers discover that romance isn’t always a smooth ride as Matt (Allen) and Eve (Jenna Elfman) are on thin ice, Gabe enlists Riley (Kat Dennings) to help Amelie (Carson Fagerbakke) impress his mom (Adlon), and Carter (Maxwell Simkins) seeks help with his ‘promposal.’"
Shifting Gears is headlined by Tim Allen and also stars Kat Dennings in the lead role. While the first season of the series premiered earlier in January this year, the second season started off with a solid commencement this October.
Backed by 20th Television, the series is executive produced by Allen alongside Michelle Nader, Marty Adelstein, Becky Clements, Richard Baker, Rick Messina, John Pasquin, Jim Patterson, Bob Daily and John Amodeo. Deninngs also produces the series.
Meanwhile, Pamela Adlon is set to reprise her voice role as Bobby Hill in the Hulu revival of King of the Hill, which was recently renewed for two more seasons. She's a two-time Emmy nominee for Better Things and a 2002 Emmy winner for her work on King of the Hill. Her recent credits include Mid-Century Modern, History of the World Part II, and Elsbeth.
