As the release of Wicked: For Good draws near, co-stars Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo have marked their friendship, quite literally. with matching tattoos inspired by their upcoming film.

Ariana Grande shared a heartfelt Instagram post celebrating “Wicked month”, revealing that both she and Cynthia Erivo got the words “For Good”, a nod to one of the musical’s most iconic songs and the title of the second part, tattooed on their palms. The post featured behind-the-scenes photos from the set and a close-up of their hands, alongside the caption: “Happy Wicked month @wickedmovie. 20 days.”

The Wicked co-stars, who play Glinda and Elphaba in director Jon M Chu’s highly anticipated adaptation, have reportedly developed an unshakeable bond both on and off screen. Chu praised their camaraderie, calling it “one of the most beautiful friendships to watch grow.”

“These two are the biggest voices in the world, maybe in our lifetime,” the filmmaker said. “They could have hated each other. There could have been insane divaship, but instead, they always put Wicked above themselves. That’s what makes great artists. They could immerse themselves in Elphaba and Glinda and still find themselves within these characters.”

Chu added that their real-life connection has only deepened the emotional core of the film. “It made my job a lot easier,” he said. “We get to know these characters more intimately than ever, and that’s what makes Wicked feel so culturally relevant.”

In Wicked: For Good, Erivo and Grande step into roles first made famous on Broadway by Idina Menzel and Kristin Chenoweth. The musical fantasy continues the story of friendship, power, and destiny that began in the 2024 Wicked film, with the sequel set to release later this month.
