Remember Tom Cruise's profanity-spouting producer from 2008's spoof comedy Tropic Thunder? If you have seen the film, you are unlikely to forget the character named Les Grossman. Cruise's Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning filmmaker Christopher McQuarrie has revealed that the actor is seriously considering a film that centres on Grossman and that they have had conversations about it. On the Happy Sad Confused Podcast, McQuarrie said that he and Cruise are considering the best possible way of doing the film. "It ultimately comes down to what that character is," McQuarrie said.

For McQuarrie, the conversations proved a refreshing break between the chaotic production of Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning. "Just to be sitting at a breakfast table, not talking about the movie we’re making for a minute, is such decompression. And just riffing with Tom playing Les Grossman at the table, it was one of the real joys of making this movie. It was all the stuff we were doing, planning the future while slugging out the present," said the filmmaker.
