Denzel Washington, who was unexpectedly conferred with an honourary Palme d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival the other day, appears to pick a fight with a photographer at the event. In a video now up on social media, Washington, who stars in Spike Lee's film Highest 2 Lowest, premiering out of competition at the festival, approached a photographer pointing his finger at the cameraman and telling him to "stop" (being pushy). The camera person tries to calm down the situation, putting his hands around Washington's arm. However, Washington withdraws himself from the scene, telling him to stop doing it. Photographers at the festival have a reputation of being shouty while trying to grab celebrities' eyes.

Thierry Fremaux, the director of the Cannes Film Festival, presented Denzel Washington's feature films as a montage, with titles including Mo Better Blues, Malcolm X, Training Day, and Glory.

Reuniting Washington with Lee after four films, Highest 2 Lowest is a reimagining of Akira Kurosawa’s High and Low (1963). The film is slated for an August 22 release in theatres, subsequent to which it will drop on Apple TV+ on September 05.
