Earlier, we reported about Wes Anderson's film The Phoenician Scheme getting slated to release on June 06 in India. Ahead of its release, it had its world premiere at the Cannes Film Festival, where it received a standing ovation for a little over seven minutes. The film stars Benicio del Toro and Kate Winslet's actor daughter Mia Threapleton in the lead roles. The ovation after the premiere left Threapleton in tears.

The film, which Anderson wrote with Roman Coppola, follows Del Toro's character, a European industrialist, who has endured one more assassination attempt: his sixth aeroplane crash. Due to the industrialist's wildly complex, ruthless, and various business practices, he is a foe to not only his business rivals but governments of all ideologies as well. With his longtime project set to end and threats to his life continuing to arise, the industrialist enlists his estranged daughter (Threaplton), who is training to become a nun, as his successor.

The film also stars Scarlett Johansson, Michael Cera, Tom Hanks, Riz Ahmed, Bryan Cranston, Jeffrey Wright, Mathieu Amalric, Rupert Friend, Benedict Cumberbatch, Hope Davis, Willem Dafoe, F Murray Abraham, and Richard Ayoade.
