Around a year after the record-breaking success of Deadpool and Wolverine, Ryan Reynolds is reportedly exploring a return to the Merc with a Mouth in a new cinematic venture. Despite expressing his disinterest in pursuing one more solo Deadpool film, The Hollywood Reporter indicates that Reynolds is developing ideas for an ensemble film featuring several X-Men characters.

This potential project could see Deadpool take on a supporting role, thus allowing for unexpected utilisation of the X-Men. Reynolds, who wields significant creative control over the franchise, believes that all Deadpool films need compelling reasons to exist, and this concept may provide that. This project is not the standalone X-Men film in development with writer Michael Lesslie.

While the specific X-Men characters remain undisclosed, the move aligns with Reynolds' past involvement with the mutant universe and his desire to explore Deadpool's interactions with other Marvel heroes. Simultaneously, Reynolds continues his writing work on the Paramount comedy Boy Band.
