With the revival of the sitcom Malcolm in the Middle, the makers announced that actors Christopher Masterson and Justin Berfield will return to essay their respective roles as Francis and Reese in the series.

However, according to a Variety report, Erik Per Sullivan will be replaced by Caleb Ellsworth-Clark, of Fargo fame, for the role of Dewey in the four-episode revival of the series from Disney.

It was previously announced that Frankie Muniz will be returning to play the titular character, with Bryan Cranston and Jane Kaczmarek playing the parents Hal and Lois again. Also, Kiana Madeira will play Malcolm's girlfriend, Tristan.

Christopher, Justin, and Erik will be joined by Anthony Timpano, of the Riverdale fame; Keeley Karsten, of The Fabelmans fame; and Vaughan Murrae, of the Before I Change My Mind fame. Timpano will be seen as Jamie, Malcolm's younger brother; Murrae will play Malcolm's younger sister Kelly; and Karsten will play Malcolm's daughter Leah.

It is worth noting that Per Sullivan, who made his debut in an uncredited role in the Bruce Willis-led Armageddon (1998), quit acting in 2006 after Malcolm in the Middle, with his final feature Twelve coming in 2010.

The original series' creator, Linwod Boomer, is returning as a writer and executive producer. Director Ken Kwapis, who will be directing all the episodes, is also serving as an executive producer, along with Jimmy Simons and Laura Delahaye as the co-executive producers.
