After running for three seasons, The Sex Lives of College Girls has been cancelled by streamer Max.

This decision, according to Deadline, follows the departure of Renee Rapp, who plays Leighton Murray, after appearing in a few episodes of the third season that ended almost two months ago. The criticism was that the third season did not receive as much positive response from critics and fans as the first two.

Warner Bros. Television (WBTV) is producing the series along with Kaling International and 3 Arts Entertainment. The WBTV is in a bid to move the show to Netflix, the streamer to which it had already successfully moved two cancelled series: Fox's Lucifer and NBC's Manifest.

Launched in Max on November 20, 2021, if Netflix is interested in acquiring the series and renewing it for a fourth season, the studio should also get the rights of the earlier seasons. The series' regular cast comprises Pauline Chalamet, Amrit Kaur, Christopher Meyer, Alyah Chanelle Scott, Ilia Isorelys Paulino, and Renika William, with Gracie Lawrence and Mia Rodgers being the new additions as the regulars in season 3.
