HBO released a new trailer for its upcoming season of The Last of Us at the South by Southwest Festival. The trailer reveal was part of a panel at the festival, which had series creators Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann and stars Pedro Pascal, Bella Ramsey, Diego Luna, Kaitlyn Dever, Isabela Merced, and Young Mazino, reports Variety.

The trailer begins with familiar elements like Joel and Ellie hiking through the forest, Ellie tiptoeing so as to not alert any infected, and a grave of fireflies, so to speak. It follows a montage of scenes from the upcoming season that include Kaitlyn Dever as Abby with some of her followers, Jeffrey Wright as Isaac, and soldiers from the Washington Liberation Front, etc. The trailer ends with Ellie confronting Joel in a callback to season one.

The Last of Us is co-created and co-written by Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann, who also serve as showrunners together. The second season stars Pedro Pascal as Joel and Bella Ramsey as Ellie, with Kaitlyn Dever joining as Abby. Other members of the cast include Isabela Merced, Tati Gabrielle, Young Mazino, Danny Ramirez, Spencer Lord, Ariela Barer, Joe Pantoliano, Robert John Burke, Ben Ahlers, Noah Lamanna, Hetienne Park, Alanna Ubach, Catherine O'Hara, and Jeffrey Wright.

The series is produced by HBO, Sony Pictures Television, Naughty Dog, Word Games, The Mighty Mint, and PlayStation Productions. Season two of The Last of Us will stream on JioHotstar on April 14.
