After the passing of her Blue Velvet director David Lynch in January, Isabella Rossellini took to social media and expressed her love for him. Rossellini, who dated Lynch for five years, paid another tribute to the filmmaker as she went to the Oscars clad in a blue velvet robe on Monday. Controversial at the time for its explicit scenes and violence, the 1986 David Lynch directorial Blue Velvet proved a career breakthrough for Rossellini, who only had a couple of roles to her credit until then. Her career took off since then, with roles in films such as Wild at Heart, Death Becomes Her, Big Night, The Impostors, and Crime of the Century.

Rossellini walked the Oscars red carpet alongside her Wild at Heart and Blue Velvet co-star Laura Dern. She also paid a tribute to Ingrid Bergman with the same earring as her legendary actor mother wore when she won Best Supporting Actress Oscar for Murder on the Orient Express.

Rossellini was at the Oscars for her best actor nomination for her performance in the religious thriller Conclave. The award eventually went to Mikey Madison for her performance in Anora.

On the work front, Rossellini's upcoming projects include The Bitter End, where she will play Wallis Simpson's confidante Suzanne Blum, and a guest role in the FX series The Beauty.
