For her performance as Anora "Ani" Mikheeva in writer-director Sean Baker's Anora, Mikey Madison has won the Oscar for Best Actress in a Leading Role. This win marks Madison's first career Oscar. It follows her win for Best Actress at the BAFTA awards ceremony. Madison had her major film roles in Once Upon a Time in Hollywood and subsequently in Scream. In fact, Anora marked the first time she led the cast of a film.

In her acceptance speech, Madison stated, "I want to recognise and honour the sex workers community. I will continue to support and be an ally. All of the incredible people, the women I had the privilege of meeting people from the community was an incredible experience."

Anora follows the story of Mikey Madison's titular character when her life is upturned after marrying the son of a Russian oligarch. Yura Borisov, Mark Eydelshteyn, Karren Karagulian, Vache Tovmasyan, and Aleksei Serebryakov also star in the film.
