Oscars 2025: Conclave wins Best Adapted Screenplay

At the 97th Academy Awards, Peter Straughan has won the first Oscar in his career. His script for Conclave earned the recognition in the Best Adapted Screenplay Oscar category. Straughan wrote the script for Conclave based on Robert Harris's 2016 novel of the same name.

Peter Straughan is a British playwright known for his work on films like Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, The Snowman, and The Goldfinch. His credits also include the British television series Wolf Hall. Straughan received his first Oscar nomination for Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy.

Straughan's win at the Oscars for Conclave follows his wins at the BAFTAs for Best Adapted Screenplay, the Golden Globes for Best Screenplay, and the Critics Choice Award for Best Adapted Screenplay.

Conclave is a thriller film starring Ralph Fiennes, Isabella Rossellini, and John Lithgow, and directed by Edward Berger.
