The next chapter in Denis Villeneuve’s acclaimed Dune saga is expanding its cast, with newcomers Nakoa-Wolf Momoa and Silo actor Ida Brooke joining the much-anticipated third instalment. The two will portray Leto II and Ghanima, the twin children of Paul Atreides (Timothée Chalamet) and Chani (Zendaya), marking a pivotal narrative shift as the story moves deeper into Frank Herbert’s sci-fi epic.

The film, from Warner Bros. and Legendary, is set to pick up after the events of Dune: Part Two, likely drawing from Herbert’s novel Dune Messiah, which explores Paul’s reign and the far-reaching consequences of the Fremen-led jihad that brought him to power. Production is expected to begin soon, although an official title and release date have yet to be revealed.

Nakoa-Wolf Momoa, making his feature film debut, is the son of actor Jason Momoa, who is also expected to return in the film, this time as a resurrected ghola version of Duncan Idaho. Brooke, meanwhile, has appeared in Apple TV+’s Silo and the British film The Primrose Railway Children.

While Chalamet and Zendaya are among those anticipated to reprise their roles, a full cast list has not been confirmed. Earlier this year, reports surfaced that Robert Pattinson was in talks to take on a villainous role in the threequel.

Villeneuve’s Dune universe has proven to be a massive success for Legendary, with Dune: Part One (2021) and Dune: Part Two (2024) collectively grossing over $1.12 billion worldwide and earning 15 Oscar nominations, including Best Picture nods for both films. The franchise also expanded to the small screen with Dune: Prophecy, a prequel series on Max set thousands of years before Paul Atreides’ rise, which has already been renewed for a second season.

Dune 3 is expected to conclude Villeneuve’s trilogy, charting the legacy of Paul Atreides through the eyes of his children and the political upheaval that follows his ascension as Emperor Muad'Dib.
