Anora's Yura Borisov joins Luca Guadagnino's Artificial

Yura Borisov was nominated for the Oscar for Best Supporting Actor, for his performance in Sean Baker's Anora, which won Best Picture at the Oscars Ceremony 2025

Yura Borisov, who was a first time Oscar nominee at the ceremony this year, has joined Artificial. The film is directed by Luca Guadagnino, whose is known for directing films like Call Me By Your Name, Challengers, and Queer.

According to Variety, the film is billed as a comedy which is set in the rising world of artificial intelligence. Guadagnino was previously set to direct Sgt Rock, which was subsequently shelved.

Borisov, fresh off his role in Sean Baker's Anora, was nominated in the Best Supporting Actor category. He has an established career in Russia, and has starred in films like The Poet, Captain Volkonogov Escaped, and The Bull. Notably, he has also starred in the biopic AK-47, in which he played Mikhail Kalashnikov, the inventor of AK-47.

Simon Rich is writing the script for Artificial, for which he also serves as a producer. With Rich, David Heyman, Jeffrey Clifford, and Jennifer Fox are producing the film. Heyday Films and Amazon MGM are backing Artificial.
