Actors Jodie Whittaker, Jason Watkins and Daniel Ryan are the latest additions to BBC's four-part drama Dear England, based on James Graham's Olivier Award-winning play about Gareth Southgate and the English men's football team.

Gareth Southgate lifted the England team to glory when it was in tatters with a dubious record in penalty shootouts.

The three actors join the ensemble cast of Joseph Fiennes (as Gareth Southgate), John Hodgkinson (as Greg Clarke), Adam Hugill (as Harry Maguire), Josh Barrow (as Jordan Pickford), Lewis Shepherd (as Dele Hill), Edem-Ita Duke (as Marcus Rashford), Will Antenbring (as Harry Kane), Francis Lovehall (as Raheem Sterling), Abdul Sessay (as Bukayo Saka), and Jacob Greenway (as Jude Bellingham).

Whittaker is set to play the team psychologist Pippa Grange, Watkins will essay former Football Association chairman Greg Dyke, and Ryan stars as former assistant manager Steve Holland.

Produced by Left Bank Pictures, James Graham serves as writer and executive producer on the series. Rupert Goold, the stage play's director, will direct the first episode, after which Paul Whittington will take over.

Dear England debuted at the National Theatre in 2023 to accolades from the public and critics, and went on to win the Olivier Award for best new play.
