Jennette McCurdy and Ari Katcher are adapting the former's memoir I’m Glad My Mom Died for an Apple TV+ series, starring Jennifer Aniston, the streamer announced yesterday. McCurdy and Katcher will also serve as showrunners and executive producers on the series, consisting of 10 episodes. In the book, McCurdy recounts her memories of being an erstwhile child actor while navigating life with a domineering mother. The dramedy series will follow a teenager in a popular kid’s show having a codependent relationship with her intimidating mother (Aniston).
Aniston is also set to serve as an executive producer on the series through her Echo Films banner, alongside Merman's Stacy Greenberg and Sharon Horgan, LuckyChap's Dani Gorin, Josey McNamara, and Tom Ackerley, as well as Erica Kay and Jerrod Carmichael.
I’m Glad My Mom Died reunites Aniston with Apple TV+ after The Morning Show, in which she not only stars but also serves as an executive producer. The Morning Show is set to premiere season four on September 17. With the series, the streamer also comes back together with Merman and Horgan after the critically appreciated comedy drama titled Bad Sisters.
McCurdy is known for her starring roles in television series, such as Nickelodeon's iCarly, and films. She published her memoir back in 2022, and it got into New York Times' list of best-selling books soon afterwards.
