It has been six years since Quentin Tarantino's ninth directorial Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, starring Brad Pitt and Leonardo DiCaprio, among others. Earlier, the director announced his intention to retire after his tenth film. Last April, he canceled his plan to make The Movie Critic as his final film, and at the recent Sundance Film Festival, he said that he would wait on his final directorial until his children grow older so that they can have lifelong memories.

"I’m in no hurry to actually jump into production. I’ve been doing that for 30 years. Next month my son turns 5, and I have a two-and-a-half-year-old daughter," Tarantino stated at Sundance. He added, "The idea of jumping on a voyage when they’re too young to understand it is not enticing to me. I kind of want to not do whatever movie I end up doing until my son is at least 6. That way he’ll know what’s going on, he’ll be there, and it will be a memory for the rest of his life."

The filmmaker also stated that he is "writing a play" right now and that it is likely to be his next project. He also suggested that if the play ends up being a big success, he might think about turning it into a film and vice versa.
