Indian writer and filmmaker Gopinath Narayanamoorthy has joined the creative team of Emirati director Nawaf Al Janahi for his upcoming English feature film titled B. The project, produced by Adolf El Assal for the European production company Edgy Films, will be based at TwoFour54 studios in Abu Dhabi, with its headquarters in Luxembourg.
B, also written by Nawaf Al Janahi, is set to commence production soon. Gopinath’s addition to the team highlights his growing prominence in international cinema, following an impressive career that bridges both the corporate and creative worlds.
Before venturing into filmmaking, Gopinath worked on high-profile projects for multinational corporations like the Royal Bank of Scotland in London, UBS, and Goldman Sachs in Hong Kong. He later transitioned into cinema, serving as an associate director for Tamil filmmakers R Kannan and Bejoy Nambiar. His contributions include working on R Kannan’s Ivan Thanthiran, starring Gautham Karthik, and Thalli Pogathey, featuring Atharvaa Murali and Anupama Parameswaran.
A graduate of Rajiv Menon’s Mindscreen Institute in Chennai, where he specialised in screenwriting and filmmaking, Gopinath has steadily built a reputation for storytelling. His short film Kothaiyin Kural, produced under his banner My Kinda Films, gained significant attention. The film, which portrays a 12-year-old girl filing a lawsuit for voting rights after facing societal injustices, was acquired by AP International and released on YouTube with English subtitles. Its socially charged narrative resonated with audiences and attracted the interest of production companies at TwoFour54 studios in Abu Dhabi.
Reports also reveal that Gopinath is in discussions with an American production company based in TwoFour54 for an Indo-American feature film, which is expected to be announced soon.
