Emmy-winning actor Jon Bernthal is the latest addition to the already impressive cast of Christopher Nolan's highly anticipated adaptation of Homer's poem The Odyssey, according to reports. Bernthal joins the likes of Tom Holland, Matt Damon, Anne Hathaway, Robert Pattinson, Zendaya, Charlize Theron, and Lupita Nyong'o.

Universal Pictures announced last year that Nolan's next would be an epic reimagining of Homer's eighth-century BCE poem. Nolan will film The Odyssey, an action epic, around the globe with new Imax technology. The film is slated for a theatrical release on July 17, 2026, a month that is usually reserved for Nolan's films.

The specific details about the character of the actor, best known for playing Shane Walsh in The Walking Dead, remain undisclosed.

The poem follows King of Ithaca, Odysseus's perilous trip back home following the Trojan War. The poem explores themes of heroism, cunning, loyalty, and destiny.

The film, which reunites Nolan with his Oppenheimer distributor, is set to go on floors next month.
