British Cosmo Jarvis has joined the cast of filmmaker Guy Ritchie's new movie Wife & Dog. The actor, who recently received praise for his performance in FX’s smash hit period series Shogun, will feature alongside Benedict Cumberbatch, Rosamund Pike and Anthony Hopkins in the film. While the plot remains under wraps, the film is expected to explore the world of the British upper class, a theme Ritchie recently delved into with The Gentlemen film and TV series.
Jarvis will reportedly be essaying the role of Hopkins' son and brother of Pike's character.
Ritchie wrote the screenplay and will produce the film alongside his long-time collaborator Ivan Atkinson (The Gentlemen, Wrath of Man) and Black Bear’s John Friedberg (The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare, Ferrari). Teddy Schwarzman and Michael Heimler from Black Bear will serve as executive producers.
Wife and Dog was introduced to buyers at the Cannes Film Festival earlier this year and marks the third collaboration between Ritchie, Atkinson, and Black Bear, following The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare and In the Grey.
Jarvis broke with the 2016 indie film Lady Macbeth, co-starring Florence Pugh and Naomi Ackie, and then starred in films such as Calm With Horses and Netflix's adaptation of Jane Austen's Persuasion.
In Shogun, Jarvis played the lead role of shipwrecked English sailor John Blackthorne.
