After the exit of Daniel Craig from the James Bond franchise, speculation has been rife about who will the next 007 be. The latest to be associated with it is actor Cosmo Jarvis. The actor seemed perplexed while responding to the rumour at the Golden Globes, where he was present with his co-stars celebrating their four victories for the FX series Shōgun. Jarvis suggested that he does not know how to address it, while conveying his best wishes to the franchise creators in their pursuit of the next James Bond. The statement comes a few months after Daniel Craig showed his disinterest in the debate around the next James Bond. There has also been speculation about a female actor being cast in the role.

However, the creators continue to keep the casting information under wraps. A Wall Street Journal scoop hinted at a clash between MGM owner Amazon Studios and the Broccolis, who control the spy series. While the studio reportedly wishes to make series and spinoffs, Barbara Broccoli holds on to her stance of retaining the franchise exclusively as a theatrical event.
