Miramax and Jason Statham are teaming up again for The Beekeeper 2, a sequel to their 2024 action film. Filmmaker Timo Tjahjanto is tapped to direct the feature, which will utilise a script by Kurt Wimmer. Principal photography is scheduled to commence in the second half of the year.

The 2024 original from director David Ayer explores a former covert operative's pursuit of revenge following a fraudulent scheme that defrauds his landlady's charitable organization. Miramax is reportedly seeking to involve Ayer in The Beekeeper sequel in a production capacity. Ayer is presently engaged in the production of Paramount's film The Heart of the Beast," starring Brad Pitt.

Discussions are underway with Amazon/MGM Studios regarding the domestic distribution rights for The Beekeeper 2. The company handled the distribution of the initial film, which was released amidst a period of industry disruption in Hollywood.

Tjahjanto's directorial credits include prominent Indonesian action-horror films for Netflix such as The Shadow Strays, The Night Comes for Us, and The Big Four. His upcoming project, Nobody 2, featuring Bob Odenkirk, Sharon Stone, and Connie Nielsen, is set for an August 15 release.
