The critically and commercially successful animated film The Wild Robot, directed by Chris Sanders, got an OTT release in India on the JioHotstar platform.

The film was already available on Prime Video and Zee5 for rent but got its complete OTT release in India on JioHotstar. Based on Peter Brown's 2016 novel of the same name, the film is about Roz (Nyong'o) learning to acclimatise to her new conditions subsequent to getting shipwrecked on a desolate island. Roz is forced to be alert to the dangers of its new habitat and learns to forge relationships with the flora and fauna of the island.

Along with Nyong'o, the film featured Kit Connor, Pedro Pascal, Stephanie Hsu, Bill Nighy, Catherine O'Hara, Mark Hamill, Ving Rhames, and Matt Berry. The film became a global box-office hit with a gross of $329 million.

An excerpt from the CE review of the film that released in October last year reads, "The film has the emotional depth of a family drama and several moments of unintentional humour that work like a charm, while occasionally venturing into the territory of horror, with edge-of-the-seat thrills and scares. While Roz fascinates you with her understanding of human emotions, it is the snarky fox Fink (Pedro Pascal) who steals the spotlight with his notorious acts while holding trauma and showing the same emotions for Rozz as Brightbill does."

The sequel to the film, The Wild Robot Escapes, is under development.
