Guy Pearce recently revealed that his LA: Confidential co-star Kevin Spacey made inappropriate advances toward him during the making of the film and it occurred to him how impactful that was much later in life. Speaking to Scott Feinberg on The Hollywood Reporter's Awards Chatter podcast, Pearce said, “I was in London working on something, and I heard [the reports on Kevin Spacey's misconduct] and I broke down and sobbed, and I couldn’t stop. I think it really dawned on me the impact that had occurred and how I sort of brushed it off and how I had either shelved it or blocked it out or whatever. That was a really incredible wake up call.”

LA: Confidential (1997) is a neo-noir crime film directed by Curtis Hanson and written by Hanson and Brian Helgeland. It is about a group of police officers in Los Angeles in 1953. It starred Guy Pearce, Russell Crowe, James Cromwell, Kevin Spacey, Simon Baker, Kim Basinger, and Danny DeVito.

Kevin Spacey was accused of several instances of sexual misconduct. It began with actor Anthony Rapp accusing Spacey of inappropriate sexual advances at a party when Rapp was 14. Fifteen others came forward alleging abuse by Spacey. Since then he has faced several legal suits regarding these alleged incidents of abuse. Pearce described Spacey as a "handsy-guy" to Australian talk show host Andrew Denton in 2018.

Pearce recalled that he brushed off the inappropriate advances made by Spacey by thinking, "Ah, that's nothing. Ah, no, that's nothing.". He recalled telling his then-wife, "The only days I feel safe are the days when [Simon Baker] is on set because I’m dumped like a hot potato, and [Kevin] focuses on [Simon] because he was ten times prettier than I am."

Pearce has not revealed the specifics of his encounters with Spacey but noted that he has since “had a couple of confrontations with Kevin” that “got ugly.”

On the work front, Pearce stars as Harrison Lee Van Buren in The Brutalist, which releases in India on February 28, 2025.
