The setting of the next season of HBO's hit TV show, True Detective, has been revealed as Jamaica Bay, New York. Francesca Orsi, Head of Drama Series and Film at HBO, revealed details about the upcoming season in a recent interview with Deadline.

True Detective is an anthology-drama series where every season follows two detectives in different parts of the USA. They pursue to solve cases that seep into their personal lives, which affects their worldview and their relationships with each other and their families.

It is a multiple Emmy Award-winning series that was created by Nic Pizzolatto, who served as the writer and showrunner for the first three seasons. After his exit, Issa Lopez came on board as the writer/showrunner for season 4, which was titled Night Country. Lopez is continuing as showrunner for season 5.

Season 5 of True Detective is set to start production in 2025 and is expected to release in 2027.
