Emile Hirsch is all set to play an investigative journalist in filmmaker Catherine Pirotta's upcoming feature The Condemnation. The film is scheduled to go on floors in April. It follows Hirsch's character whom a major newspaper company enlists for a story regarding the haunted house Casa Matusita in Peru. The place, with its history of ghost sightings, suicides, murders, and a massacre, turns into a temporary residence for the investigative journalist and his spouse. However, as they settle in, mysterious and horrifying occurrences there make them seek the assistance of a priest with a dark connection to the place.

Pirotta will direct the film from her own screenplay. Daniel Diamond of Luminosity Entertainment will produce it, alongside Farouk Hadef and Brad Epstein.

Talking about the announcement, writer-director Pirotta stated, "Emile Hirsch is one of the most talented and engaging actors of his generation. His body of work includes wonderfully diverse and complicated characters which he has portrayed in transformative ways, and I am excited to be working with him to bring this story to life."
