As Hawkins, the high-school gang as well as the audience brace for one last battle against Vecna and the evil scientists, there has been many theories floating around regarding the upside down and the new dimension, the abyss. But, as always, the Duffer Brothers are ready to throw many twists at viewers as the finale episode of Stranger Things season 5 premieres in less than a day.

Sharing details regarding the much-anticipated episode, director Shawn Levy in an interview with People, revealed that fans will get to witness many new information in the finale episode, including a "deeper understanding of Henry Creel and Vecna."

He termed the eighth episode, which has a runtime of two hours and five mins a "masterpiece", adding fans can expect "outcomes that are deeply satisfying, but many of which are completely surprising."

He affirmed, "I just want to assure all of the people around the world who have walked the long road with us for nearly a decade, this finale is what you've been waiting for."

Levy, who directed the seventh episode, said the finale will be "informationally and profoundly emotionally satisfying."

The noted filmmaker earlier called the episode "a finale that's as good as any TV series finale I've seen in my life" on the show's red carpet premiere, a thought that David Harbour also resonated with, before wrapping filming on the series. "The end of this episode, when we were reading it — just us reading it — about halfway through, people started crying. Then, about the last 20 minutes, it was just uncontrollably crying, waves of different people. Noah Schnapp being my favorite," he said at the time.

The series finale trailer was released on Monday, which showed the team of Will, Eleven, Mike, Lucas, Jim Hopper, Mr Clarke, Erica, Nancy, Jonathan, Joyce, along with Kali, and others are working on their ultimate plan on heading to the upside down for one last time to defeat Vecna. Volume 2 ends with Holly being captured once again by Vecna, along with her classmates to "form a new world". They are all trapped in his lair to complete Vecna's final mission. The episode trailer teased several astounding twists along with emotional moments.

The series finale is set to premiere on Netflix at 06.30 am on January 1 in India.
