As Stranger Things gears up for one final showdown in an epic battle against Vecna, theatres across the US, Canada, and several other locations have witnessed an overwhelming response to ticket sales, as fans eagerly await the massive cinematic event. Over 1.1 million tickets have already been sold across 620+ theatres and 3,500 showtimes, reaffirming the sustained hype surrounding the globally acclaimed series.

Initially announced across 350+ theatres in the US and Canada for December 31 and January 1, 2026, the event expanded to more than 500 locations by the time ticket sales opened in early December. Owing to the growing demand, several additional theatres were subsequently added.

While a few spots are still available in LA, most of them have already been booked. Beyond major chains such as AMC, Regal and Cinemark, it will also be playing in Harkins, Megaplex, Cineplex, Alamo, Landmark and Marcus.

Created by the Duffer Brothers, this eight-episode season sees the return of beloved characters played by Millie Bobby Brown (Millie Bobby Brown), Noah Schnapp (Will Byers), Finn Wolfhard (Mike Wheeler), David Harbour (Jim Hopper), Gaten Matarazzo (Dustin Henderson), Caleb McLaughlin (Lucas Sinclair), Sadie Sink (Max Mayfield), Natalia Dyer (Nancy Wheeler), Joe Keery (Steve Harrington), Charlie Heaton (Jonathan Byers), Maya Hawke (Robin Buckley), Priah Ferguson (Erica Sinclair), Brett Gelman (Murray), Cara Buono (Karen Wheeler), Amybeth McNulty (Vickie), Nell Fisher (Holly Wheeler), Jake Connelly (Derek Turnbow), Alex Breaux (Lt. Akers), and Linda Hamilton (Dr. Kay). Jamie Campbell Bower returns as Vecna/ Mr Whatsit/ Henry while Linnea Berthelsen came back as Kali from season 2. Nell Fisher takes the centrestage as Holly Wheeler this season who is trapped in the hands of Vecna.

Volume 2 ends with Holly being captured once again by Vecna, along with her classmates to "form a new world". They are all trapped in his lair to complete Vecna's final mission while the team of Will, Eleven, Mike, Lucas, Jim Hopper, Mr Clarke, Erica, Nancy, Jonathan, Joyce, along with Kali, and others are working on their ultimate plan on heading to the upside down for one last time to defeat Vecna.

Both Volume 1 and 2, consisting of seven episodes, are currently streaming on Netflix. The finale episode titled 'The Rightside Up' will have a runtime of 2 hours and 5 min, making it the longest episode in the season. It will be released on Wednesday, Dec. 31 (New Year’s Eve), at 8 p.m. ET / 5 p.m. PT while Indian audiences can watch it a day later on January 1 at 6.30 a.m.
