The latest to join the Sophie Turner-fronted Tomb Raider series by Amazon Prime Video is the British actor Martin Bobb-Semple.
Bobb-Semple was most recently seen as the series regular Orlando "Lando" Johnson in All American: Homecoming. His role was promoted to the series lead in the third season. He is also known for his roles in Peacock's One of Us is Lying and Netflix's Free Reign. Though the makers of the upcoming live-action series are tight-lipped about Bobb-Semple's role, it is expected that he will be given a pivotal character.
The project, which was under development in Prime Video since 2023, has Phoebe Waller-Bridge serving as the creator, writer, and executive producer, with Jonathan van Tulleken attached as the director. Chad Hodge will team up with Waller-Bridge as the co-showrunner.
The production of Tomb Raider is set to commence on January 19, 2026.
Based on the video game franchise Tomb Raider, the first live-action film starring Angelina Jolie, Lara Croft: Tomb Raider, came out in 2001. Though the film was critically panned, its box office success gave rise to two more films – Lara Croft Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life (2003) and Tomb Raider (2018). The second film had Jolie return as the lead, and the third was headlined by Alicia Vikander.
