Filmmaker Francis Ford Coppola's dream project Megalopolis, starring Adam Driver in the lead role, did not do as well as it could commercially or with film critics when it hit theatres last year. However, this does not deter Coppola from considering the release of a director's cut version for the film. In a recent conversation with The Telegraph UK, Coppola said that he plans to release a Megalopolis Director's Cut. “It will be really wild," the filmmaker said about the upcoming version of the film, which itself took a long time to make for Coppola.

More footage will be part of the Megalopolis Director's Cut, including extra scenes featuring Kathryn Hunter's Roman matriarch character. At the time of the film's release, critics found Hunter potential to be not used as well as possible in the film.

Last year, Megalopolis won a Razzie award for worst director for Coppola. The filmmaker also responded to the criticism that the film faced at the time of its original release in the latest interview. "It takes people a while to like new things," the Apocalypse Now and The Godfather filmmaker revealed.

Following an architect (Driver) wanting to create a retro-futurist version of New York City following a catastrophe, the film also stars Shia LaBeouf, Aubrey Plaza, Jason Schwartzman, Jon Voight, Kathryn Hunter, Laurence Fishburne, Grace VanderWaal, James Remar, Chloe Fineman, DB Sweeney and Dustin Hoffman.
