Kiernan Shipka has signed on for The Shitheads, the upcoming road trip comedy led by Dave Franco, O’Shea Jackson Jr, and Peter Dinklage. The film is written and directed by Macon Blair.

The project follows a road journey that quickly spirals into chaos, with Shipka set to play a key character. “Kiernan’s one of the best young actors of her generation, and we’re delighted to have her join the movie in a pivotal role,” Blair said in a statement. “It’s a very funny part, but in a way she plays the conscience of the story; it’s a fun turn for her.”

Behind the camera, the film is produced by Brandon James (The Righteous Gemstones), Alex Orr (The Decameron), Blair, Franco, Nathan Klingher (The Surfer), Ford Corbett (Land of Bad) and Jeremy Saulnier (Rebel Ridge). Gramercy Park Media is co-producing and financing, with Joshua Harris and Mark Fasano executive producing.

Shipka, best known for Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, was most recently seen alongside Pamela Anderson in The Last Showgirl. She also starred opposite Dwayne Johnson and Chris Evans in the holiday action feature Red One.
