Sony Pictures quietly dropped a new Spider-Man: Brand New Day glimpse which gives a sneak peek into Tom Holland's new suit for the upcoming film directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, who has previously helmed Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings for Marvel.
The eight-second-long video opens with close-up glimpses of the new suit, with visible raised black webbing against a sharp red cover, something that strongly resembled the classic red-and-blue costume from the Marvel comics. Interestingly, the teaser dropped on August 1 which is touted as the National Spider-Man Day.
Filming has reportedly begun in Glasgow, where large-scale action sequences will be captured on the city’s streets.
The star-studded ensemble cast of the new film features Zendaya and Jacob Batalon who are reprising their roles as MJ and Ned, The Bear-fame Liza Colon-Zayas, and Sadie Sink, known for Stranger Things. Jon Bernthal is also coming back as Punisher. Mark Ruffalo is in talks to reprise his much-acclaimed role as Bruce Banner aka Incredible Hulk. Michael Mando, known for Better Call Saul is reprising his role as Scorpion whom he first played in the first Tom Holland Spider-Man film Spider-Man: Homecoming.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day has a screenplay written by Erik Sommers and Chris McKenna. Details about the plot of the upcoming instalment are undisclosed. However, it is expected to revolve around Peter Parker who returns to his comic book roots as a street-level hero as No Way Home ended with Parker being erased from the memory of everyone who knew he was Spider-Man, including all his friends and loved ones.
The upcoming film is backed by Amy Pascal and Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige and is scheduled to release in theatres on July 31, 2026.
