After Ridley Scott's 2007 feature American Gangster, drug kingpin Frank Lucas has become the subject of another film, this time a documentary, titled Pusherman, as per The Hollywood Reporter. The film will have interviews with journalists Mark Jacobson and Michael Daly, culture pundit Darius James, and hip-hop pioneer Fab 5 Freddy. Jacobson did a story for the magazine New York that offered insights into Lucas’ operation. Pusherman will explore how Lucas transformed the drug business, besides how the music industry treated him and what Jacobson's story revealed about power structures in New York City.

"Pusherman is the best Behind the Music episode ever done about a non-musical figure," stated Jacobson. The journalist added that the documentary is truer, as well as more entertaining as compared to American Gangster.

Lucas is notorious for using dead US military members' coffins to smuggle heroin from Asia to America. Denzel Washington portrayed Lucas in the Scott directorial. Reportedly, Washington met and observed Lucas to help enhance his character portrayal in the film.

Pusherman is set to release later in the year. Meanwhile, here is the official trailer for the film:
