The Japanese animation studio Madhouse announced during the recent anniversary event of the anime show Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End that it will have a second season. The first season aired as a two-parter from September last year to March this year. It quickly reached the top of the MyAnimeList rankings and became an anime show with one of the highest ratings. The show ended with the words, "The Journey to Ende Continues," which left audiences eagerly waiting for the next chapter.

Screenwriter Tomohiro Suzuki and director Keiichiro Saito will return for Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End season two, production on which has commenced.

Based on Kanehito Yamada's manga series and featuring Tsukasa Abe's illustrations, the show charts Frieren's new quest following the Demon King's defeat. In her journey, the immortal elven mage deals with the elapsing of time and the fact that her companions are mortals.

At the recent event, the studio also released a teaser and a commemorative illustration by Tsukasa Abe to mark the announcement.
