The trailer for Bookworm, the upcoming adventure comedy drama starring Elijah Wood and Nell Fisher, was released on Wednesday. The film is directed by Ant Timpson, based on a screenplay by Toby Harvard.

The trailer shows Mildred (Fisher) as a bookworm, who is over-mature for her age and wants to adventurously explore the world. When her estranged father Strawn Wise (Wood), an illusionist, comes back to be with her, she asks him to accompany her on an adventure to find a panther. The hilarious obstacles and challenges they face in the journey forms the rest of the story.

The official synopsis of Bookworm reads, "Bookworm follows 11-year-old Mildred whose life takes a wild turn when her estranged father, Strawn Wise, a washed-up Las Vegas illusionist, suddenly reappears. Years ago, after a magical encounter with the once-charming Strawn, Mildred's mom moved back to New Zealand. Now, a comical mishap leaves Strawn caring for Mildred while her mom is hospitalized. Their first adventure? Camping to hunt for the mythological Canterbury Panther. As this mismatched duo navigates the wilderness, magic tricks, and an extraordinary quest, hilarity ensues, and they might just find a way to piece their family back together."

Bookworm also stars Michael Smiley, Morgana O'Reilly, Nikki Si'ulepa, Vanessa Stacey, Theo Shakes, and Millen Baird. Produced by Emma Slade, Roxi Bull, Victoria Dabbs, Mette-Marie Kongsved, and Laura Turnstall, the film's worldwide release date is yet to be announced.
