A film based on the video game series 'The Sims' is in the works from Amazon MGM Studios. The film will be helmed by Kate Herron, known for directing and executive producing the Disney+ series Loki

The Sims is a simulation video game developed by Maxis that has sold almost 200 million copies. The Sims games mostly lack defined goals, making it interesting what the script of the film will focus on. Even though word around the project has been circulating for six months, the plot and cast are under wraps for now.

Briony Redman will write the script, while LuckyChap and Vertigo Entertainment will produce alongside Electronic Arts, with Herron and Redman serving as executive producers.

Earlier, in 2007, the video game franchise was planned to be made into a feature film by 20th Century Fox, though the project failed to materialise.
