We had earlier reported that the widely celebrated Harry Potter novels and films will be adapted into a series by HBO.
Coming as the latest development, a casting call have been announced to for children aged from 9-11 in April 2025 for the roles of the lead characters Harry Potter, Ron Weasley, and Hermoine Granger. Harry Potter creator JK Rowling made the announcement through her social media.
It is worth noting that Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, and Rupert Grint rose to fame as Harry Potter, Hermione Granger, and Ron Weasley through one such audition for the film adaptation of the novel series.
Weeks ago, it was announced that Succession series duo Francesca Gardiner and Mark Mylod have been roped in as the writer-showrunner and director, respectively. Gardiner was a part of Succession's production team, while Mylod produced and directed the series.
Though a date for the show's streaming debut hasn't been officially announced, Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav said earlier this year that a 2026 debut was the target.
Rowling, Gardiner, and Mylod will executive produce the project with Neil Blair, Ruth Kenley-Letts, and David Heyman.
